Name Tags and Glasses of Water

I never liked name tags. I hate them even more when they are dangling from a lanyard. Spinning around bobbing to and fro, showing you the name or showing you the backing of the name tag. Sheepishly we stare at the other person’s chest and they to you, trying to get a brief glimpse of the name.

WAKE UP PEOPLE! MY EYES ARE UP HERE. IF YOU CAN’T SEE MY NAME IN 10 SECONDS ASK!!!!?!?!?!

I like water. I drink a lot of it, maybe two gallons + each day. Now the trouble with glasses of water seems to be pervasive especially in the hosting industry and especially during times of maximum conspicuousness. Case in point, Keith Duncan’s drinking problem. I love Keith to death but the guy has a serious drinking problem. With adult beverages he can drink just fine, not spilling a drop, but when it comes to water the guy has serious issues, he can stare at a glass and it will fall over.

At the HostingCon 2008 Marketing panel I seem to be picking up the tradition. I spilled two glasses of water during the panel, to this day I say the glass caught on the table cloth and pushed itself over on its side. I serious doubt Aaron would agree, and since he is the only other witness to it, my excuse has less validity, but there it is.

Glasses and tablecloths and water is a bad combination.
