Sometimes we take many Open Source software for granted, but at the same time we should pay for them. One of those is WordPress. The blogging system is probably the most popular one on the planet and unlike its competitors offers choice to its users. As you know anyone can use WordPress in their own account without pauing even a cent for its usage.

WP came up with its latest minor release 2.6.1. In this version the blogging CMS is continuing its trend of offering a maintenance release shortly after a major release. WordPress development team says they do this $in order to get fixes for the inevitable “dot zero” bugs” into bloggers hands without a long wait.

What’s new is WordPress 2.6.1

Version 2.6.1 offers several improvements for international users.  Styling of the admin panel for right-to-left languages is improved. WordPress says that this is possible thanks to its Farsi and Hebrew teams. The blogging platform has already fixed the “mysterious gettext bug” caused by certain PHP configurations. 

2.6.1 also comes up with fixes of a several permalink problems IIS users experienced in previous versions.

Another difficulty Host Color’s clients who use Internet Explorere said they faced - Image insertion problems in the “Press This” function - is already a “trouble” which belongs to the past.

WordPress team also reported that it has fixed a performance bug that used to cause slow load of the admin panel and some pages because of the usage of many plugins.
