Some people ask me Dave, what is it that you do and what can we expect from the not so distant future?

Ok so no one has asked me what I do, but the second half of that question is asked a lot so I will sum up what projects we have on the table and what we are doing to get them under way.

We had several major projects that were suppose to have been finished by now, but we have had to push back the dates on those. One of the things we have been dealing with is a large influx of hackers wanting to take down the site. We have been dealing with this issue for about a year now and the biggest project has been to harden our servers and our sites. So far we have been successful in stopping threats, but it ends up taking a lot of our time and energy to do so and for that I apologize.

Another project that started small, but has become all encompassing has been SEO work. On a weekly and daily basis we have been getting the 100k plus pages that make up Web Host Magazine up to code on search engine maters such as title and keyword density. It is an ongoing project that requires a lot of time, but the time invested has been very beneficial.

I am still working with our research and development teams on producing a better way to review. We have gone through twelve successive rebuilds of the current system and I am still not sure if we have found the right mix of criteria and grading scales to best evaluate Web host companies, software packages and the like. I am continuing to devote time to this project because I think that this will be of the biggest benefit to you our audience.

On a smaller note, I will continue the Art of War series with an introduction, a piece of data centers, efficiency, etc. Of all the series ideas I have had I am most proud with the Art of War series and I am hoping you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.

I have an excellent piece on Violin Memory Inc. and I truly believe their technology will be one of the big advances in the industry. To go along with that article will be talking about what technologies I think are the hottest and which technologies will be the ones to watch in the upcoming months.

Lastly, I am working on write ups for more business oriented material. I have written about marketing and sales but I have spent very little time on other business topics so those will be coming out as well.
